How it works
STEP ONE – MEASURE
When you arrive at the clinic for your session we will ask you to change into your exercise gear. Then we’ll conduct a series of fundamental tests including height, weight, body mass index and lung function.
STEP TWO – DOCTOR
You will then see one of our Doctor’s who will examine your cardiovascular and respiratory systems. The Doctor will discuss your current health status (symptoms) and family history of heart disease.
STEP THREE – HEART
For this stage you will head through to the treadmill room. Here we measure your heart activity with an ECG. We measure activity when you are resting, walking and for some clients, running. Sensors placed on your body feed us information about your heart’s rhythm, muscle and blood supply. We measure your resting and exercising blood pressures. It also allows us to estimate your aerobic fitness level.
These tests help us to identify whether you have any heart damage, narrowing or blocked arteries, or an irregular heart rhythm. This is a very important part of the process. When it comes to your heart, you don’t want to be in the dark. Early detection is key, because most things can be treated.
STEP FOUR – WRAP UP
We will discuss the results of your test on the day. A full summary reporting including our Cardiologist’s review of your ECG will be posted/emailed to you.
